This is why the real reason why no one is in HA. The average gamer is not going to deal with that crap, of the millions who ever played guild wars how many have tried HA run into a bunch of asshats then never returned? Then the same nerdy idiots who drive everyone away with their internet thug behavior wonder where the hell everyone went and try to analyze everything from builds to map objectives, too stupid to see no one wants to play with them except some sorry no lifer who would let someone disrespect him just to get some freakin fame.

You are completely missing the point of Guild Wars if you are complaining about this. One of the main strengths of this game was the "pick up and play" mechanic. A-Net wanted to reduce the amount of grinding from traditional MMOs and make it easy for players to immediately play the game.

Your right. And the minute pvp deviated from that goal it emptied out faster then glass of water spilled over the counter. The lower regions of pvp (RA, AB) is still very much populated, the game itself isn't dieing just the epeen wank fest that is GvG and HA. Guys like Kill if given a choice between a game where everyone is competitive vs a grindy piece of shit where jerking off your epeen the fastest wins you matches, Kill will chose the grindy piece of shit and his type populates HA, which is why the fame/rank system is still here, and that side of the game went to hell a long time ago. Fact is Kill is disappointed with Guild Wars because jerking off on your epeen only wins half your games in GW, unlike WoW where 99% of your games are won via "mine is bigger then yours" thought process.

It's actually far worse trying to ring CS or get on a CAL team that isn't a bunch of raging 12 year olds that won't make it past week two of the season.

Well there's two ways of looking at this:
1. You got 8 (or 6) people that all want to win and get fame, it's a total waste of everyone's time if you take idiots that can't play their build and you lose. Yes some people are way to serious about video gaming and end up being counter productive with their raging, but generally their interest is for the team to win.
2. Randomway or bring joke builds, if you win all the more entertaining.
If you think mr. serious business, don't suck or gtfo is unique to guild wars you obviously never played any other online games. Every competitive video game has a barrier of assholes that you have to deal with if you want to be involved in the scene and nobody is going to blow rainbows and sunshine up your ass. I'm not saying that to be mean it's just the way it is. Some people see it as a challenge to get through all that into high level play while others are totally turned off by it.

The problem is those other online games allow you to avoid those players or at the very least mute them. In HA you can NOT PLAY THE GAME AT ALL NOT EVEN DO ONE MATCH without dealing with them. I'm sorry but 99% of online games that are remotely successful don't make you deal with those idiots.

the problem isn't dumbasses talking. I mean i'm a pvp'er my balls are plenty big if someone wishes to talk some shit. its the fact that the dumbasses are the "gatekeepers". you can not play the game at all unless you deal with them. at least in ra the complete idiots aren't preventing me from playing the game, they will probably prevent me from winning but the act of actually playing is always up to your ability to click enter battle.

The problem is that there are less people playing. Back during prophecies, there was 3-5 american districts full and 6-9 international districts full. Sure you would end up with asshats, this is a game on the internet after all. E-peen waving was just as commonplace back then (just at a lower rank compared to today), but there were enough groups that would take anybody, that finding a pug regardless of your situation did not take long.
The other problem is that you are trying to pug in HA.

RA is basically the equivalent of a CS pub. Like Reverend said there's drastically fewer unranked groups in HA but there's usually a no requirement mathway or heroway forming in the evening that will only kick the dumbest of the dumb or disband after losing 2-3 UW's in a row. There's also some guilds in the math alliance that will take anyone and randomway HA so I still think the door is open to people that just want to play casually, you just have to have a little more patience.
I don't pug HA much but when I do I'm just not seeing the ultra fag rage guys in groups under r7, unless you really drop the ball on something important like snares that you said you could run and everyone is mad.

Lets see here back in prophecies HA had more builds, the gatekeepers were r3, and pugging was much easier because HA had more builds and the epeen wankers epeen weren't that big. Even then people complained about the soul sucking nature of the arena. Fast forward a few years later the gatekeepers are r6, there are 2 builds in HA, and pugging is a about as new player friendly as a polar bear in the arctic. It is not rocket science HA died because it never fixed the soul sucking pugging experience. So yeah if the problem with HA is people trying to pug HA no wonder HA has drastically reduced activity.

gatekeepers? huh?
Get eight people, push enter mission.
The problem is that the game is old and the population is a mere fraction of what it used to be. There were more builds because there were more players. People were willing to try new things because groups could be formed quickly and a complete failure of a build was only the loss of a minimal amount of time. Today because there are so fewer people groups take far longer to form, a failure of a group is a much larger waste of time. Is it really that surprising that the majority of players do not want to take a risk with something new when its failure will cost them an entire night of play?
The format is not friendly to pick up groups. Why? Because there are organized teams. Almost everyone that succeeds with any frequency play with the same group pulling from guild and friend lists. These people don't just know a build, they know the people they are playing with. A pick up group simply cannot compete. You don't go to a sports game then complain that they don't ask you to play. Go find a team, find people, organize yourselves. Pugging is going to set you up for failure from the beginning.
